Keepin’ Still and Mindin’ Things: The Revolutionary Link Between Afro-American Agency and Autonomy in Massachusetts, 1763-1817 (POSTPONED)

May 2, 2020 @ 1:00 pm

Genealogist and archivist Ariana Fiorello-Omotosho presents her research on issues of abolition and independence by examining the lives of four Afro-Americans – Amos Fortune, Belinda Sutton, Elizabeth “Mumbet Freeman, and Paul Cuffe – and ways they engaged with their agency and autonomy during their enslavement in Massachusetts. Ms. Fiorello-Omotosho’s presentation also includes a look at other Afro-Americans from Massachusetts and records that are helpful for both historians and genealogists.
