The recipe for a perfect evening: a live performance of the music of jazz greats from Louis Armstrong to Miles Davis, the cozy confines of the Hawthorne Hotel’s lower level “Library”, a free CD, and a pre- or post- event refreshment at either of the hotel’s restaurants. nProviding the music is the Jeff Perry Quartet, featuring Jeff Perry on trumpet (photograph by Andy Knapp), Steve Kirby on guitar, bassist Mark Piantowski – all long-time faculty members at the Berklee College of Music – and Mike Connors on drums. The 75-minute concert will include classical, bossa nova, bee-bop and fusion pieces previously performed by many superstars of the jazz genre. Commentary on the roots and evolution of jazz, beginning with musical theater in the 1920s and 1930s, will complement the musical program. nAdmission is $15 and includes a free Jeff Perry CD. nReservations for the event can be made by e-mail at culturecorner@gmail.com or text 978.979.5907. nProgram attendees are eligible for a 20% discount on appetizers, meals, and dessertsn(beverages excluded) in the Hawthorne Hotel’s Nathaniel’s Restaurant. n Source: https://www.salem.org/event/jim-mcallister-presents-a-very-cool-evening-of-jazz-featuring-the-jeff-perry-quartet/
