History Alive! Inc., The Ipswich Museum, and Ipswich ReCreation proudly present: Goodnight, Captain White: A Maritime History-MysterynWritten by Mark StevicknDirected by M. Lynda Robinson nIt’s 1830. “All friends and well wishers are invited to attend” the retirement party of Captain Joseph White’s favorite ship, the Caroline. But this magnanimous invitation lures a host of enemies and ill-wishers into the perfect opportunity to murder the rich, old captain. Allegiances twist and turn. Foibles are exposed, depravities revealed—and your fellow party-goers are suspect. nIn this historical, hysterical murder-mystery, the audience has until the end of the show to deduce which one of the guests has committed the most shocking crime Salem’s elite has ever seen—was it the Captain’s niece, Lavinia White Beckford, out for revenge after being disinherited? Perhaps her daughter, the elegant Abigail Knapp, trying re-ascend the social ladder after her marriage to the Captain’s former shipmaster, Frank Knapp—conveniently unemployed after disobeying the Captain’s wishes. Could it be the rowdy Richard Crowninshield, well known for his vendetta against the victim, or even Penelope Muchmore, a local harlot with more than a few secrets to share? nAmidst all this mayhem is an undercover Senator Daniel Webster, who is determined to reveal the true killer—in addition to serving up some excellent wordplay and delectable bonbons along the way. As a member of his Committee of Vigilance, you must use your skills of observation and keen intellect to solve the crime of the century: the murder of Captain Joseph White. nFor tickets:nTickets are $20 – $30 and are available at https://goodnightcaptainwhiteipswich.brownpapertickets.com/nPunch, hors d’oeuvres, and petit desserts will be included.nSix Saturday Night Performances: June 8 & 22, July 13 & 27, August 10 & 24nHeard House, Ipswich Museum, 54 South Main Street, Ipswich, MA n Source: https://www.salem.org/event/goodnight-captain-white-a-maritime-history-mystery/2019-07-27/
