Community Conversation on Critically Engaged Civic Learning

July 11, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join Cynthia Lynch, the executive director of Salem State’s Center for Civic Engagement for a conversation on the work they are doing to develop and advance best practices in anti-racist community engagement. The conversation will explore a set of four principles she co-authored with her Massachusetts Equity and Engagement Consortium that aim to make sure that community-engaged experiences are anti-racist, break down traditional power dynamics, and build on the cultural wealth of our students and community members. Additionally, she will discuss and share examples of Critically Engaged Civic Learning (CECL), a new framework that supports the development of equitable community and campus collaborations and equips the partnerships with a useful structure to address the issues that affect their communities.

This event is free to the public.
