SUMMARY:Awaken: Conjuring Our Tomorrow
DESCRIPTION:Awaken: Conjuring Our Tomorrow is a group exhibition curated by Allison Maria Rodriguez featuring Latina artists exploring climate justice issues in their practice. The works in this exhibition navigate a space in between the mathematical and the fantastical. In the wake of the atrocities that continue to be inflicted upon our earth\, this exhibition suggests that we must harness the power of both science and magic in order to generate the prospect of a collective future. From computer programming to oil painting\, these artists use the mechanics of storytelling and human curiosity to investigate our spiritual (dis)connection to the planet\, to highlight the political implications of our cumulative paralysis\, and to envision the possibility of another tomorrow. \nArtists in the exhibition: Tatiana Arocha\, Krista Caballero\, Nayda Cuevas\, Raquel Fornasaro\, Lina Maria Giraldo\, Dinora Justice\, Evelyn Rydz\, and Ana Maria Velasco \nAllison Maria Rodriguez is a first-generation Cuban-American interdisciplinary artist working predominantly in video installation. She creates immersive experiential spaces that challenge conventional ways of knowing and understanding the world. Her work focuses extensively on climate change\, species extinction and the interconnectivity of existence. Through video\, performance\, digital animation\, photography\, drawing\, collage and installation\, Rodriguez merges and blends mediums to create new pictorial spaces for aesthetic\, emotional and conceptual exploration. \nFebruary 19 – Curator Talk\, 12:30 -1:30 pm\nFebruary 19 – Opening Reception\, 2-4 pm\nFebruary 29 – Community Reception\, 5-7 pm \nThe gallery is open 10 am to 4 pm\, Monday through Friday. SUMMARY:Candlemas Sabbat at Omen
DESCRIPTION:Join the Witches of Traditionalist Covens of New England (TCONE) for our Candlemas celebration. Candlemas is one of the Witches’ Eight Sabbats. At Candlemas we celebrate the beginning of Spring and the Goddess’ transition from Crone to Maiden. Candlemas is also known as Imbolc\, which roughly translates to in the belly\, signifying the birthing of the Spring calves and lambs. \nThis Candlemas ritual will be led by a Alexandrian coven located here on the North Shore of Massachusetts. \nTraditionalist Covens of New England. The organization was formed first in Salem in 1996 by two local covens\, with the goal of providing an introduction to varying paths of Traditionalist Initiatory Witchcraft. The group offers public Sabbats and Esbats at Omen\, 184 Essex Street\, Salem\, Massachusetts. Admission to the Sabbats is a non-perishable food or pet food item which will be donated to local food pantries or animal shelters. \nCurrently our leaders are High Priestesses and High Priests in Gardnerian\, Alexandrian\, Minoan Brotherhood and Celtic Traditionalist Gwyddonaid\, all of which are paths of Traditionalist Initiatory Witchcraft. We rotate leadership of the Sabbat and Esbat circles through the various traditions. \nFor more information about Traditionalist Covens in the New England area\, visit and like our Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/TCONESalem/ \nBlessed Be!

The program includes: \nPrelude to the Afternoon of a Faun for flute and piano – Claude Debussy \nDuo No. 1 in G major for violin and viola\, K. 423 – Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart \nQuartet for the End of Time for clarinet\, violin\, cello and piano – Olivier Messiaen \nMessiaen’s epic masterpiece\, composed while he was captive in a German prisoner of war camp during World War II\, stands as one of history’s greatest musical achievements. SUMMARY:Julie Dougherty Performs Live in Nathaniel’s
DESCRIPTION:Julie Dougherty has been singing and performing for over 40 years\, mostly in the New England area but she spent many years travelling across the country singing in Nashville\, Austin as well as a year’s stint in Los Angeles\, where she lived and sang with her sister\, then as a solo artist. She spent many years travelling back and forth to and from Nashville\, where she was able to place a few songs with major publishers but decided playing close to home was nearer to her heart and gave up the push to ‘make it in Nashville’! She has worked as a ‘full-time’ musician for many years (4-5 nights a week) but now prefers a scaled-back gig schedule to suit her lifestyle … often times she is joined by her husband Woody Woodward on bass. \nOther Hawthorne Hotel events can be found here: https://www.hawthornehotel.com/events/
