DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Virtual Haunted Footsteps Ghost Tour with Professor Nicodemus Whateley this Friday\, June 26 at 8 p.m. The professor will whisk you around Salem and tell you about paranormal activity\, accidental death and murder.  Born in Kent in 1838\, Professor Whateley was frustrated of his upbringing by an English gentleman who blocked his path to studying demonology. Taking up a teaching position at Balliol College\, he became an expert warlock. He transferred to Harvard University in 1870\, but sacrificed a particularly annoying undergraduate class to a 30 foot fire demon two years later to achieve immortality. Unfortunately the blaze got rather out of control\, but the statute of limitations has long since run out. Nicodemus is condemned to give ghost tours as part of an insert clause in his demonic contract he mistranslated. This is a virtual tour around Salem through pictures and live storytelling. You will receive a confirmation with login information for the evening of the tour. All you need to your soul and something to protect it. The cost is $5. \nRegister here.

DESCRIPTION:This year’s walk has been postponed to a later date in the fall\, see website for the latest updates. \nMothers\, fathers\, children\, grandparents\, friends\, co-workers\, teachers and students will wind their way along the 10K (6.2 mile) WALK route through Salem. For nearly three decades\, the North Shore Cancer WALK has brought together a community focused on raising funds for the fight against cancer. To date\, we have raised more than $23 million. This year that mission will again be celebrated\, as entertainers and supporters along the route lend a festive air to an unforgettable journey\, driven by determination and inspired by hope. \nProceeds from the 2020 WALK will be used to provide support to Oncology services on the North Shore Medical Center’s Salem campus as well as for clinical trials\, wellness care and other Oncology services at the Mass General/North Shore Cancer Center in Danvers. \nLearn more here.

DESCRIPTION:Local historian Irene Axelrod will share the incredible tale of the life of Lydia Pinkham and her role as an international enterprising woman. \n$10; Free for Gables’ members. \nEnterprising Women: The 19th Amendment to the Constitution guarantees and protects a woman’s right to vote. To honor the 100th anniversary of this historic milestone\, The House of the Seven Gables will celebrate the enterprising spirit of women and their continuing impact with a year of special events. \nThis lecture was originally scheduled for March 11 and has been postponed to July 1\, 2020 at 6:30 pm.  \nIf you have registered for this event and can attend on May 20 – do nothing! Your registration will be good for that day. \nIf you have registered and cannot attend the rescheduled lecture\, please email jarrison@7gables.org. We’ll work on issuing refunds over the next few days. \nAll other public events The House of the Seven Gables will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
