SUMMARY:“Bedroom Farce” by Alan Ayckbourn
DESCRIPTION:“Bedroom Farce is a masterclass in comedy at its finest!” The London Telegraph \nTrevor and Susannah\, a highly-strung self-absorbed couple\, inflict their miseries on their nearest and dearest: three couples whose own relationships are tenuous at best. The action takes place sequentially in the three beleaguered couples’ bedrooms during one endless Saturday night of co-dependence and dysfunction. Ayckbourn’s arch observation of human nature reveals the quirks\, foibles and comforts of marriage with a kind eye towards the love that binds couples together. The farce in this play relies upon the comedy of character\, sprinkled with a good dash of slapstick.  As foolish as these characters can be\, Ayckbourn gives us warm and loveable human beings with a lovely lightness of touch. \nDirected by Celena Sky April. Join us on Thursday\, February 20 at 6:30 pm for a Prelude Conversation with the director and the creative team. \nTickets \n$20 general\n$15 seniors and non-SSU students 18 and above\nUnder 18 free admission \nPurchase tickets: www.salemstatetickets.com or 978.542.6365

SUMMARY:Ritual for Reproductive Justice
DESCRIPTION:Join Witch the Vote for an evening of magical activism in support of Brookline Women’s Health Services (WHS)! We’ll make herbal “Reproductive Rights Protection Pouches”\, leave some voicemails/write some emails about the ROE Act\, and cast an abundance unblocking spell for WHS’s continued funding. \nThe Brookline Women’s Health Services is the third highest-volume abortion clinic in MA\, as well as the only non-hospital provider of abortion up to the legal gestational limit. Many of their patients are uninsured\, under-insured\, can’t afford costly care at hospitals\, but require hospital level care. \nUnfortunately\, due to a loss of grant funding\, they have reached the point where WHS will have to close within the next three months if they do not receive sustaining donor support. If the clinic disappeared\, many New Englanders would not have their urgent medical needs met. As an independent provider that serves a vulnerable population and receives no government funding in politically uncertain times\, it is devastating to imagine WHS closing its doors. \nThat’s where the witches come in. All ticket sales from this event will be donated to WHS\, and additional cash donations are more than welcome. You can also contribute to their GoFundMe here. \n**Accessibility Notice: We do have a temporary ramp that we can easily fit over the entrance stairs for guests who need it; just give us a call or email hello@hauswitch.com and we’ll roll out the silver carpet!** \nTickets ($10) available online.

SUMMARY:Awaken: Conjuring Our Tomorrow
DESCRIPTION:Awaken: Conjuring Our Tomorrow is a group exhibition curated by Allison Maria Rodriguez featuring Latina artists exploring climate justice issues in their practice. The works in this exhibition navigate a space in between the mathematical and the fantastical. In the wake of the atrocities that continue to be inflicted upon our earth\, this exhibition suggests that we must harness the power of both science and magic in order to generate the prospect of a collective future. From computer programming to oil painting\, these artists use the mechanics of storytelling and human curiosity to investigate our spiritual (dis)connection to the planet\, to highlight the political implications of our cumulative paralysis\, and to envision the possibility of another tomorrow. \nArtists in the exhibition: Tatiana Arocha\, Krista Caballero\, Nayda Cuevas\, Raquel Fornasaro\, Lina Maria Giraldo\, Dinora Justice\, Evelyn Rydz\, and Ana Maria Velasco \nAllison Maria Rodriguez is a first-generation Cuban-American interdisciplinary artist working predominantly in video installation. She creates immersive experiential spaces that challenge conventional ways of knowing and understanding the world. Her work focuses extensively on climate change\, species extinction and the interconnectivity of existence. Through video\, performance\, digital animation\, photography\, drawing\, collage and installation\, Rodriguez merges and blends mediums to create new pictorial spaces for aesthetic\, emotional and conceptual exploration. \nFebruary 19 – Curator Talk\, 12:30 -1:30 pm\nFebruary 19 – Opening Reception\, 2-4 pm\nFebruary 29 – Community Reception\, 5-7 pm \nThe gallery is open 10 am to 4 pm\, Monday through Friday. SUMMARY:“Arts & Crafts” by History Alive at the Salem Inn
DESCRIPTION:For years\, the Salem Inn has heard reports of spiritual activity in and around their properties. While none of it implies malintent\, both the Inn’s employees and guests are convinced that something–or someone– is trying desperately to communicate. Among these witnesses is local historian Louisa Rogers\, who has experienced the most spiritual activity of all in her residence at the Salem Inn. In the hopes of establishing a connection between these happenings and Salem’s past\, the Salem Inn has called upon Rogers\, Cora Sprague-Fox (a local medium)\, and you to get to the bottom of it. \nJoin the Salem Inn for our first Show & Stay event. \nWe’re proud to collaborate with History Alive\, producers of Salem’s resident acclaimed interactive theatre experience Cry Innocent for almost 20 years. \nBe the first to experience Art & Crafts – the intersection of romance\, art\, witchcraft and scandal brought to life through a brand new interactive theatre experience created exclusively for the Salem Inn. \nThis intriguing journey back in time will explore the very real relationships tribulations and challenges that surrounded some of the city’s earliest settlers played out across in period authentic houses and rooms – with you right in the middle of it all. \nTICKET PRICE\n$40 per person – plus room \nCall or visit saleminn.com to book.
