From computer programming to oil painting\, these artists use the mechanics of storytelling and human curiosity to investigate our spiritual (dis)connection to the planet\, to highlight the political implications of our cumulative paralysis\, and to envision the possibility of another tomorrow. \nArtists in the exhibition: Tatiana Arocha\, Krista Caballero\, Nayda Cuevas\, Raquel Fornasaro\, Lina Maria Giraldo\, Dinora Justice\, Evelyn Rydz\, and Ana Maria Velasco \nAllison Maria Rodriguez is a first-generation Cuban-American interdisciplinary artist working predominantly in video installation. DESCRIPTION:“Bedroom Farce is a masterclass in comedy at its finest!” The London Telegraph \nTrevor and Susannah\, a highly-strung self-absorbed couple\, inflict their miseries on their nearest and dearest: three couples whose own relationships are tenuous at best. The action takes place sequentially in the three beleaguered couples’ bedrooms during one endless Saturday night of co-dependence and dysfunction. Ayckbourn’s arch observation of human nature reveals the quirks\, foibles and comforts of marriage with a kind eye towards the love that binds couples together. The farce in this play relies upon the comedy of character\, sprinkled with a good dash of slapstick.  As foolish as these characters can be\, Ayckbourn gives us warm and loveable human beings with a lovely lightness of touch. \nDirected by Celena Sky April. SUMMARY:Leslie’s Retreat
DESCRIPTION:The third annual Leslie’s Retreat community re-enactment commemorates Col. Alexander Leslie’s tense stand-off with local militiamen at the bridge over Salem’s North River on February 26\, 1775. Now known as “Leslie’s Retreat\,” this failed attempt by British redcoats to seize control of a local weapons stockpile places Salem firmly in the midst of Massachusetts’s unrest just before Lexington and Concord. As Massachusetts begins to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution\, reenacting Leslie’s Retreat offers Salem an important opportunity to place itself on the Revolutionary map. Started in 2017 through the efforts of the Leslie’s Retreat Committee\, a network of local organizations and motivated citizens\, as a community-focused event to engage locals in a largely underappreciated moment in Salem history\, the Leslie’s Retreat Community Re-enactment is uniquely audience-interactive and allows locals to portray British redcoats and local Patriots alongside dedicated re-enactors and professional interpreters. \nFor more information\, visit SalemHistorical.org.
