DESCRIPTION:Since its completion in 1929\, Hammond Castle Museum has attracted rumors and urban legends of supernatural associations and occult happening. While most of these wild stories can be dismissed as pure fiction\, the building occupies a fascinating place within the broader historical context of the development of spiritualist and spiritualist-adjacent fields in American culture. The spiritualist movement enthralled America’s upper and middle classes during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Both John Hays Hammond Jr. and his wife\, Irene\, were fascinated with wide-ranging topics including Astrology\, Divination\, Numerology\, Extrasensory Perception (ESP)\, and Mediumship. \nEvery Thursday evening in August\, September\, and October (and even a couple of Wednesday nights in October too) we offer Spiritualism Tours\, This specialty tour explores the history of American spiritualism\, with a particular focus on contextualizing the movement within broader contemporary cultural trends and discussing the Hammonds’ own complicated engagements with these cultural phenomena. From John Hays Hammond Jr.’s attempts to communicate with supernatural entities using a Faraday Cage\, to Irene Hammond’s work on a comprehensive survey of astrological signs; over the course of this approximately 55-minute fully-guided tour\, the dramatic gothic-inspired architecture of the building and night-time atmosphere will set the stage for a fun and informative seasonal experience unlike any other! \nCarry-In/Carry-Out Picnics: Guests may enjoy a carry-in/carry-out picnic on our seaside lawn before their tour on Thursday evenings in August! Reservations are $5 per party and start one hour prior to your ticketed evening tour. Reservations are required in advance.  Hammond Castle Museum members enjoy complimentary picnic reservations.

Then\, find the species of penguins from PEM’s natural history collection on view in the galleries. \nRegular Drop-in Art Making is held in person Friday–Monday in our Create Space studios. Friday art making is recommended for ages 10 to adult\, while Saturday–Monday activities are suitable for ages 4 and up. Activities are created and led by PEM’s Education team.

SUMMARY:Little Miss Ann and Suzi Shelton
DESCRIPTION:Little Miss Ann is a Chicago-based\, Filipina-American\, nationally touring kids musician who has made 7 award-winning Family Music albums. She is also a former Chicago Public School teacher\, an instructor at Chicago’s iconic Old Town School of Folk Music\, a social justice activist\, and a first generation Filipina American. \nSuzi Shelton is a multi-award winning indie singer/songwriter and music enrichment educator based in Brooklyn\, NY who has multiple solo albums and singles. Suzi produces a popular weekly livestream show on her YouTube Channel called Sing with Suzi – a joyful show for little kids featuring a diverse array of special guests that The New York Times declared as a life-saver for parents. Sing with Suzi is currently viewed in over 70 countries around the globe. \nAnn and Suzi regularly perform and tour together. They have also guest appeared on each other’s music including Little Miss Ann’s “Welcome Spring” and Suzi Shelton’s “Spread More Love” . Both songs as well as many others of theirs have been featured on Sirius XM Kids Place Live. At their shows\, Ann and Suzi’s infectious energy\, catchy melodies\, upbeat rhythms and interactive fun  inspires kids to let their own light shine in their own families and in their communities.
