Strawbery Banke\, much like The Gables\, is  a waterfront campus of historic properties\, placing it in a high-risk area for impacts of sea level  rise. The museum has been working with the city of Portsmouth\, NH\, University of New  Hampshire\, and other colleagues and experts in the climate change and historical preservation  fields to assess risk and design adaptation to mitigate potential damage. There is a great deal  The Gables – and the city of Salem – can learn from our colleagues in Portsmouth.  \nThis event is free\, but registration is required.

All skill levels are welcome! This two-hour session includes a 30-minute beginner sketch lesson. All you need to bring is a sketchbook\, pencils and an eraser. We encourage you to bring a folding chair and sunscreen as this program is outdoors. Please note: watercolors\, pastels\, oils\, or acrylics are not permitted on the Museum grounds. \n\nAttendees who wish to tour Hammond Castle Museum after this class are entitled to a 20% discount on a self-guided tour. Tour tickets may be purchased in the Museum Shop before 3:00 p.m. on the day of this class\nAbout Sue Wheeler: Sue Wheeler has a lifetime of making art through various mediums from delectable pastries to abstracts in pastels\, watercolor\, and acrylics. She enjoys using her creative flair in quilting and interior design as well. In early 2019\, Sue opened her own gallery and studio\, Arts Abound in Magnolia Village\, MA as an artistic haven for local artists. Students will get to take home their slime. Our magical employees will guide children in creating their own slime creations.\n\nThis workshop is limited to 8 children\, pre-registration is required.\n\nAll ages are welcome! Children age 3 and up may be dropped off with a signed Consent Form. Any child under the age of three must have an adult alongside participating.
