The rockhoppers’ most iconic feature is their yellow crowns\, which look like grumpy eyebrows. Join us as we turn rocks into rockhoppers! Then\, find the species of penguins from PEM’s natural history collection on view in the galleries. \nRegular Drop-in Art Making is held in person Friday–Monday in our Create Space studios. Friday art making is recommended for ages 10 to adult\, while Saturday–Monday activities are suitable for ages 4 and up. Activities are created and led by PEM’s Education team.

DESCRIPTION:Bats have one of the most sophisticated flying mechanisms of any animal\, with more than 40 joints in their wings. The way bats swoop through the air inspired robotics engineer Alireza Ramezani to invent the Bat Bot drone\, which is highlighted in the current Bats! exhibition. Come see the original Bat Bot and hear Ramezani talk about the process of inventing a drone that can flap\, glide and turn\, as well as his current project: a more advanced version of the Bat Bot that perches and hangs upside down. \nThis program is generously supported by the Lowell Institute.
