SUMMARY:Julie Dougherty Performs Live in Nathaniel’s
DESCRIPTION:Julie Dougherty has been singing and performing for over 40 years\, mostly in the New England area but she spent many years travelling across the country singing in Nashville\, Austin as well as a year’s stint in Los Angeles\, where she lived and sang with her sister\, then as a solo artist. She spent many years travelling back and forth to and from Nashville\, where she was able to place a few songs with major publishers but decided playing close to home was nearer to her heart and gave up the push to ‘make it in Nashville’! She has worked as a ‘full-time’ musician for many years (4-5 nights a week) but now prefers a scaled-back gig schedule to suit her lifestyle … often times she is joined by her husband Woody Woodward on bass. \nOther Hawthorne Hotel events can be found here: https://www.hawthornehotel.com/events/

SUMMARY:The Moth StorySlam
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to take the stage — or sit back and listen — to a live PEM StorySLAM from The Moth. This community-focused\, open-mic storytelling competition encourages anyone to share a five-minute tale on an identified theme. Ten lucky audience members\, picked at random\, vie for the chance to be crowned the night’s StorySLAM champion. \nThe Moth is true stories\, told live and without notes. Based in New York City\, the nonprofit celebrates the ability of true\, personal storytelling to illuminate both the diversity and commonality of human experience. Their work allows people from all walks of life — astronauts\, students\, a dental hygienist\, a hot-dog eating champion\, a mechanic\, exonerated prisoners\, veterans\, Nobel laureates and everyone in between — to share their stories on stage in front of an audience. Through live shows\, storytelling workshops\, a podcast\, Peabody Award-winning Radio Hour\, and New York Times best-selling books\, The Moth brings the power of personal storytelling to millions of people each year — creating community and building empathy around the world. \nMade possible in part by The George Swinnerton Parker Memorial Lecture Fund. \nMembers $10\, nonmembers $15\nDoors open at 6:30 pm\nLocation: Main Atrium at the Peabody Essex Museum
