Cross-racial friendships remain one of the most effective methods of improving race relations. They have the power to reduce bias and change cultural beliefs not just for the individuals involved, but for families and circle of friends. Over time, these friendships can heal divisions and foster racial equity. Yet, most Americans do not have friends of a different race.
Deborah L. Plummer, PhD, a psychologist, university professor, and author, speaks on topics central to racial equality, inclusion, and mutual respect and shares her experiences that lead to her groundbreaking and timely book, Some of My Friends Are… which addresses this phenomenon.
