Becoming American: Immigration and Popular Culture

“Immigration and Popular Culture” looks at the ways the media and popular culture have historically taught newcomers how to “be American,” and how the rich contributions of different immigrant groups have transformed American culture and art.nThe selected film for May 1 is The Search for General Tso. Each event will consist of a documentary film screening and scholar-led discussion with Professor Elizabeth Duclos-Orsello from Salem State University’s American Studies Department.
